   Your wedding day is very special. Why not store your photographs in an equally special album?

   At DHP, we only make albums to your specifications: from the paper used, page size and number of pages to the cover materials and decorative accents. There are many things to consider when designing your album and we're here to discuss them with you. Give us a call or email us to start that discussion.

Your homework
   Here are just a few things that you'll need to think about:
  • the number of photographs you would like to showcase in your album;
  • whether or not you would like photographs on both sides of the pages;
  • the sizes of the photographs;
  • the color scheme of your album - both cover material and page color;
  • what would you like on the cover?

It's all in the details...
   There are a couple of album styles we recommend: scrapbook or sewn.

   The first, the scrapbook-style album is created with two cover pieces that are bound together using screw posts. This structure does not lay flat when opened for viewing. The advantage of this album is it can be taken apart easily to add or remove pages.

   The second, the sewn album is bound like a book. The pages are sewn together so this style album can not be expanded nor can the interior pages be changed. The advantage of this style is it lays flat when open.

   Prices for custom albums differ greatly. To give you a starting point, a small album (to fit single 4" x 6" photos) made with machine-made paper (without interleaving) starts around $225 and just go up in price based on how you want to personalize your album. A custom clamshell box that matches your album may also be purchased. Prices for clamshells begin at $225 (for a small one).

   There are several choices for cloth covers, but some include Black (several textures/materials), Copper, Dark Blue, Golden Yellow, Lavender, Metallic Gold, Metallic Silvery-Blue, Mint, Sage, and, Teal. If you would like to customize the color of the cloth based on your wedding colors and it isn't one we stock, there is an additional $40 charge.

   Another thing you might consider is a photo box. The size is pretty standard (to fit 4" x 6") but can be covered in any color combination imaginable. They are still a custom item so call or email if you'd like to discuss a photo box instead of an album.

A few samples
The above album featured a photo recess with a hand-stitched organza overlay. The spine of this very large album was hand-stitched for added strength.
 
The above album belongs to Susan Sarandon's daughter Eva. After Marie-Celeste did some repair work to Ms. Sarandon's personal album and created a clamshell for it, Ms. Sarandon sent MC her daughter's Sweet 16 album to have MC make a custom clamshell box for it. The cover of the clamshell features a hand-painted batik on paper panel which MC painted to match the album cover paper.
The above album was covered in a rose colored Japanese silk book cloth that coordinated with the slipcase fabric. That fabric was supplied by the customer and we prepared it for use as book cloth. A very personal touch to an album.
